Huravee Day of the Maldives

Huravee Day pays tribute to the great rebel Sultan Hassan Izzudin who freed Maldives from the south indian invaders.This day falls on the 3rd Jumadhul Akhir 1166 in the Islamic Calendar.

Male'  was captured by a South Indian fleet during the reign of Sultan Mukarram Muhammad Imadudheen III in 1752. The King was taken away and the palace was destroyed. A certain number of invaders remained ruling the Maldives.

The Maldives regained its freedom under the leadership of Muleege Hassan Maniku, who later became a Sultan named Hassan Izzudheen, who was a descendant of a family from Huraa Dynasty, Male' Atoll,

Hence this day is marked as Huravee Day.
